No. Lippincott does not buy costume jewelry. There are certain makers of vintage costume jewelry that have value, such as Miriam Haskell and Hobe. Still, we confine ourselves to fine jewelry such as Cartier, Rolex and Tiffany & Co.

Do you buy from jewelry stores, dealers and pawnshops?
Yes. We receive a large number of estate items from these sellers, and they use the same Safe-Pak mailing system as our other customers.

What about broken jewelry or items missing stones?
Selling these jewelry items is not a problem. Many items sustain damage during years of wear. Lippincott will consider any problems with an jewelry items in its price quote.

Can you return certain stones in an item if I want them back?
If they are large prong-set stones, then this is not a problem.If the item you want to sell contains small stones, or if the way the stones are set increases the risk that we might damage them upon removal, then we cannot take them out or send them back. Your Lippincott appraiser can discuss issues like this with you as soon as we receive your item.

Is solid gold jewelry considered scrap or not?
If a piece of gold jewelry is pretty or rare or generally desirable, then it is not considered scrap. If a piece of gold jewelry is not pretty, not rare, not a name designer item, and not special in any way, then it is considered scrap and priced accordingly.
